I was so excited when Home Depot asked me to participate in this spring’s Patio Style Challenge. It was literally just the day before that Harrison and I were talking about how we could jazz up our patio space before the warm weather arrived! We absolutely love entertaining and spending time outside, so this was huge for our little, sad concrete slab-of-a-patio.
When we bought our house almost two years ago, we had to give some major TLC to literally every room in the house. This meant that our patio was left neglected and although we did spend some time out there, I never really loved it (although Tuck doesn't seem to mind its ugliness).
Since we do have a concrete slab for our patio space, we wanted to start from the ground up. We thought adding a deck-like flooring would really make the patio feel cleaner, nicer and more like a deck. We started there with our New Techwood Deck-A-Floor (see separate How-To post for this project) and in one day, our patio already felt completely transformed!
We have a table outside to eat at, but I really wanted a comfortable space to lounge with coffee or a cocktail. Enter, the Beverly 5-Piece Sectional with Beige Cushions (plus one extra middle piece to add more seating). This sectional is amazing. The quality is great, it is so comfortable and looks even better in person. I have spent every morning out here with my coffee since we got it and it is the perfect lounging space.
I’ve always been obsessed with outdoor curtains, so I took this as my opportunity to add them to our patio. Harrison built a structure that extends from our house, around the perimeter of the patio, using copper piping (because who doesn’t love copper) bought at our local Home Depot. He cut, soddered, attached, drilled, and voila! We have a place to hang curtains!
After the curtains were hung, we strung outdoor lights to create a “ceiling of lights” effect. I believe that lighting absolutely makes a space so this was a necessity for me!
Add in pillows (if you follow along with my blog, you know I am slightly obsessed with anything leopard. When I saw these spotted pillows, I knew I had to use them! I added in these ikat pillows to coordinate), accessories (like this garden stool used as a table and for extra seating) and an amazing new grill!
We are loving our new outdoor oasis and can’t wait to do some serious entertaining this spring and summer! Now if only the pollen would leave us alone…
