Today I'm sharing a super fun post about microblading. If you haven't heard of microblading and you fill in your brows every morning, you are in for a TREAT! Like so many others, I plucked my brows super thin in high school (WHY was that a thing?!) and I've always wanted thicker brows that I didn't have to fill in every morning. It seems like such a small thing but it really is a pain! When I found Emily from the Brow Couch at Magnolia Med Spa, I was so impressed with her brow magic abilities I knew I had to take the plunge and do this! Here's a few details about the process & how it works ::
What is microblading?
Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup that naturally restores the shape and color of the eyebrows. A customized pigment (color) will be manually bladed into the skin of the eyebrows to create natural, hair-like strokes. All skin types & tones can be treated.
Did it hurt?
I have a very LOW pain tolerance and this wasn't bad at all. They put numbing cream on my brows beforehand, and although it worked perfectly in some places and I couldn't feel it at all, other places it didn't seem to work. Even in those spots where I could feel each blade stroke, the pain was minimal and it was so SHORT that I didn't really have time to feel pain.
What was the recovery like?
I was super worried about what my brows would look like in the coming days. Would I look like a freak with black painted on eyebrows? I was so surprised that from the moment I left, they looked great! A tad shiny because you use an ointment on them, and a little darker than the final result, but nothing crazy.
In terms of after treatment, they give you instructions on exactly what to do! Simply wash your brows gently with mild soap and then use a q-tip to apply a tiny thin coat of Bacitracin. I experienced no pain after the procedure. My brows gradually lightened, and then got slightly patchy and then un-patchy (is that a word?) again. Nothing super noticeable though!
How long does it last?
I am headed back for a touch up and when I get that done, I'll update this post with more photos. They say it can last any where between 12-18 months, depending on sun exposure that can cause fading.
Are you pleased?
All in all, I am THRILLED with the results! Not having to fill in my brows each morning is so amazing... who would have thought that such a small step removed from my daily routine could bring me such joy?! Ha!
