Our Bahamas Trip Recap

Happy Friday! Today I’m sharing the details on our trip to the Bahamas. I’ve had SO many questions about where we stayed, etc. so I’m here to fill y’all in! Here are the specifics:

WHERE: Rose Island - a private island about a 15 minute boat ride off the coast of Nassau

HOW LONG: We stayed for 5 nights

LODGING: We rented this house on Airbnb. It is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath house that was perfect for two couples.

here's a view of the house looking up from the beach

PRIVATE? Are there any other people on the island? There are day trips over to the island from Nassau each day, but while we were there the weather was too windy for those so we basically had the entire island to ourselves. There are a few other houses (1 or 2 which you’ll also see on Airbnb) but we didn’t see anyone else on our trip.

nothing better than coronas on the beach!

ACTIVITIES? This is a private island so you are taken there on a boat and then you stay there the entire time until you’re picked up by boat on your last day. There is so much to do around the island - snorkel, kayak, hang on the beach, we brought a ton of board games, etc. There is a tiki bar on the island that is open during the day when they bring excursions over from Nassau. The beach bar / excursion company is called Sandy Toes. We also took a deep sea fishing trip one day and caught this wahoo!

HOW ABOUT FOOD? We provisioned our food ahead of time (you have to plan out your meals in advance and decide what you need, then you send them to a purveying company in Nassau who delivers your food to the island. We pre-seasoned and vacuum sealed our meats (just because I’m not sure about Bahamian meat?) and brought them in a cooler (you can check the cooler with the airline) Lunches at the tiki bar were included in the cost of the Airbnb.

Harrison finally made it after we realized his passport was expired ON THE WAY to the airport. He sent me on the plane without him and miraculously got his passport within a few hours.

we kayaked over to this little island across from Rose Island

WOULD YOU GO BACK? Absolutely. It was such a cool experience! We didn’t have the best of weather (think - Gale Force Winds - below is a picture that describes the wind situation), but I can imagine that in warm temps with low winds it would be an absolute dream. I’ve never seen clearer water! The island was absolutely beautiful, peaceful, serene and private.
