Feeling Festive with Von Maur

Happy Friday! Today I’m excited to partner up with Von Maur to share some fun holiday content with y’all. With Thanksgiving and Christmas fast-approaching, so are holiday parties and gatherings! So many of my clients feel stuck on what to wear to holiday things - whether they be casual, dressy or anywhere in between; we all want to feel festive but don’t want to be under / over-dressed.

Not to mention, Von Maur is an amazing place to find gifts. Did you know they do free gift-wrapping? All you have to do is head to the customer service counter and leave your gifts to be wrapped. I absolutely love that level of customer service! They also have an interest-free credit card which I have never heard of. So helpful during your holiday shopping, and year-round!

So today, I’m sharing 4 different holiday party looks that will have you looking fun and festive, no matter what the occasion.

1) CASUAL BUT FESTIVE
So many gatherings are casual these days - whether it be a secret Santa luncheon, a family get-together or even taking the kids to see Santa - many people just don’t need to get THAT dressed up and this is the perfect outfit for that occasion. I love anything tone-on-tone, so this burgundy top paired with burgundy jeans (which in and of themselves are a fall / winter wardrobe staple in my opinion!) is a perfect festive yet casual look that can go day to night. I love the velvet top because you can dress it up with different bottoms, or down with a jean like so. A sidenote - can we talk about this bag? It has been a new favorite of mine when I’m not carrying my diaper bag. It’s the perfect size, color and is worth the investment!

2) ELEVATED JEANS
On the same note, jeans are often appropriate for so many holiday get-togethers! You can elevate your jeans (mine are these Liverpool ones) with a fun top - like this velvet puff-sleeve number- and heels - like these fun sparkly ones. This is SUCH a fun and festive top that can go with everything from jeans, to skirts, to black pants, and more. Add a little bling in the earrings and you’re all set (earrings are from BaubleBar, available in stores only!)

3) PARTY JUMPSUIT
It’s no secret that I LOVE a good jumpsuit. This is perfect for a nighttime holiday party or event and it is so flattering. Velvet so you won’t freeze, a great waistline and a puff sleeve. It’s classic yet fun and will never go out of style! I paired it with the same sparkly heel for a little pop on the bottom. I love this bag because it’s the perfect go-to for a night out or event. It’s easy to carry because you can just loop it around your wrist and not worry about holding onto something or having any weight on your shoulder!

4) NYE / HOLIDAY GLAM
How amazing is this dress?! I love sequins and think this would be perfect for a more formal / dressy holiday party, or New Year’s Eve! I sized up to a medium because #birthinghips, but normally would wear a small. It’s fitted on bottom and blousy ontop, and I paired it with tights and a sock bootie (another winter staple!). These booties are insanely comfortable and the price is even better.

Look how pretty that gift-wrapping is! I’m thinking I need all blush and golds under my tree and Von Maur can make it happen. Hope this gives you all some fun Holiday inspo to kick off the most wonderful time of the year!

What to Wear in Holiday Photos

It’s that time of the year! Holiday photos are most likely on your calendar and you may be wondering - what the heck should my family wear? Today I’m going to share a little bit of inspo from our Christmas card photos, and how I choose what to wear so everyone coordinates.

We always do our photos outside, so I typically like to keep things fairly neutral with pops of classic holiday colors and subtle patterns. Camels, deep greens, plaids, navy, burgundy, and neutrals are usually my go-to’s. This year i kind of centered things around Lila’s shorts (sold out, but I love this coverall). I loved the classic tartan pattern and since she is the star of our family, it was only natural! I like to mix textures, especially in an outdoor setting like this one. I feel like the camel color of this sweater and the pop of pearl detailing (I got this in white too for Christmas festivities!) in coordination with her tartan shorts and faux fur headband really works! For Harrison, we did a textured button-down and this army green vest. I love vests on men because it’s casual, but a little more polished and finished than just a collared shirt! Dark jeans are always a good choice - stay away from lighter washes!

I can’t even with her!

real life = me pulling the dirt out of her hands so she doesn’t eat it and Harrison being the fun dad.

You can shop our outfits, as well as some other good holiday photo staples, below:

Transitioning into Fall with Von Maur

Happy FALL, y’all! The temps are officially cooling down for good here in Georgia, which means it’s time to break out all the fall wardrobe staples. In this early fall weather, when temperatures can be cold in the morning and then balmy by the afternoon, it can be hard to decide what to wear. Layers and creativity are key! I’m partnering up with Von Maur to show you some easy fall transition outfits that will take you from morning to night, work to play.

Do you shop at Von Maur? It has never been one of my go-to stores but I have to say that I had the BEST experience shopping there. I was unaware of some of the amazing brands they carry, not to mention the customer service was incredible. When personal shopping is your job, this MATTERS! I have seen some department store customer service decline in the past year, so this was a much-welcomed experience. I can officially say that I will be adding them to my little black book of favorite stores!

On this blog post, I am going to show you 4 versatile outfits using 6 interchangeable pieces that are perfect for fall. Ready? Let’s go.

1) Pleated Midi Skirt - this is such a versatile piece for fall. Wear it now with a sweater (you won’t be as hot as if you’re wearing full pants, but still have enough coverage), then bring it into winter with tights. I LOVE both of these sweaters with it.

2) Booties. If you don’t have booties, you are not fully living your best fall life. These are perfect because they have a small heel, are a great neutral color, and are a great height on the ankle. Plus, they are super comfortable! Wear them with skirts and dresses, jeans and leggings.

3) Lightweight sweater that doesn’t need any extras - Find a great sweater that doesn’t need a lot of additions (i.e. accessories, layers) to make it polished and fun.

Enter, pearl embellishment… yes., please!

I love the texture, color and the tie waist of this burnt orange sweater. Wear it with a skirt, jeans, pants and more.

4) A cute and easy jacket is easily one of my top must-haves for fall. Layer it over a tank, a lightweight sweater, blouse, or dress. SO versatile and something you should always have on hand for cold mornings or chilly nights! I paired it over my sweater + skirt combo, but also took it super casual with this amazing sleeveless bodysuit and jeans

5) A mid-wash, high rise jean. Y’all… I LOVE these jeans. I have heard of Liverpool but never tried them, and I am here to say I’m a convert! I think a medium-wash is key for really all year, but especially the fall. They are so easy to take from casual to dressy, day to night. Pair them with a block heel like these snakeskin ones, a bodysuit (this one is my FAVE!) and you immediately have an elevated outfit. Easy!

6) Finally, some animal print! Whether you like snakeskin or leopard print, add some animal print into your fall wardrobe. It’s an easy way to stay neutral but add in some texture and pattern to an otherwise plain outfit (i.e. a t-shirt and jeans). I also love a block heel so these check so many boxes on my list!

Do you shop at Von Maur? I’d love to know! Tell me in the comments section below if so, and why you love it! Stay tuned for more fun things in the works.

Gameday with Stewart Simmons

It’s finally “fall” (if the weather would catch up) and this weekend marks the first BIG Georgia game, so I thought it only fitting to share some fun gameday style that you can take from tailgate to the game, sitting on your couch to watching with friends! I love Stewart Simmons because they make such cute SEC gameday styles that are budget-friendly and different than traditional mascots, etc. Get 20% off your purchase with code LIFESTYLED20.

I love this simple shift dress because you can do it with sandals, booties, a little jacket over the top, and some fun red earrings like these.

If you’re watching on your couch or casually with friends like I am most weekends, I LOVE this easy lightweight long-sleeved tee with anything from yoga leggings to jeans and sneakers.

And as y’all know, this bulldawg tank (and baby onesie!) are a Saturday staple for me, especially in this heat!

If you are looking for great gameday style, look no further! You can use code LIFESTYLED20 to get 20% off at Stewart Simmons.

Nordstrom Sale Picks

It’s HERE! Today is the start of early access to the NSale for Nordy Club members and cardholders, so I’m sharing all my favorites. I actually love that there are LESS items in the sale this year, so it’s not as overwhelming and allows me to really round up the pieces I think are the best buys; from wardrobe staples like denim, shoes and sweaters, to activewear, loungewear and more. This sale is also a great time to stock up on gifts - SO many deals on candles and cute home decor items!

I had the chance to try on just a few items while I was there with clients the other day, so I am picturing those here, and then rounding up all my picks by category below. Everything you see me wearing will be linked within the category.

Closet Transformation with The Reformed Closet

Happy Friday, y’all! Spring wardrobe clean-outs are in full effect and that does not exclude my OWN closet. Many clients assume that within my wardrobe consults, I provide organization services as well. Though I can definitely give you tips on how to categorize your clothes, organization is NOT one of my strengths! I try multiple things on, throw the clothes on the floor and this pattern continues for about a month or so. Meaning - I have no idea where anything is, and you can’t see my closet floor. So after my closet got absolutely out-of-control this past time, I decided to call in an expert to help. Of course a custom closet is on the wish list, but for now I just needed to get my life in order.

Enter Jessica Kitchel of The Reformed Closet (and also my neighbor here in Roswell!) Y’all - she is amazing! Her simple tips and direction really helped me change my closet, my outlook on organization and my ability to MAINTAIN a clean and organized closet. Jessica lives in Historic Roswell, GA with her husband Mack and their almost two year old daughter Charlie. She graduated from The University of Hawaii, which fueled her passion for travel. She loves all things interior design and sharing their home with friends and family. Jessica has a passion for organizing and making life simpler by creating easy to maintain organizational processes for your home. Now if she could just do every drawer and closet in the rest of my house…

After meeting with me to evaluate my closet (see the BEFORE photo below; Full disclosure y’all - I am SO embarrassed to even put this out on the internet and be associated with it but I feel you really need to get the full effect!), Jess discussed some ideas with me and then sent me a document with everything she wanted me to purchase at The Container Store and the quantities / prices of each. This was so helpful because not only were there photos of each item and quantities, but I could get an idea of how much this was going to cost me. It was much more reasonable than I thought it would be!

BEFORE

BEFORE

I purchased all the items on the list, and also bought this storage unit at Ikea and added hardware to it. I already had this set of drawers in my closet plus the shoe shelves. First Jess took out EVERYTHING from the closet (whoa). Then, she moved things around to the most functional spots and made the closet feel so much bigger and cleaner! After that, we got to work on organizing. She had me put all the shoes I don’t wear on a daily basis in clear bins that we put on the top shelf, showed me a fun a neat way to use a paper organizer as a clutch holder (genius!), and introduced me to the best underwear & bra organizers. She then taught me how to fold everything Marie Kondo-style which has been so much easier to implement than I thought it would be!

After all was said and done, I feel SO much better about my closet. I am great at purging and getting rid of stuff each season, but the organization side of things has never been my strength. The key test would be MAINTAINING this level of organization, and I’m happy to report that it’s been a whole month and my closet still looks like this!

Thank you to Jess for collaborating with me on this post! If you are in need of organization, she is your go-to gal. Visit thereformedcloset.com to learn more!

Our first 3 months with Lila + My baby must-haves

Lila Steele has been with us for just over three months (crazy!) and I’m starting to get the urge to ease back into work life so I’m going to go with it! I’ve had tons of messages asking if I will share what “baby things” we have loved, what didn’t end up working, and what is worth it or not. So, today I’m sharing all the details about our first two months and answering some questions I’ve gotten!

For those who don’t know, Lila Steele Clymer joined our family on December 28, 2018. I went into labor in the middle of the night, we got to the hospital around 6AM and she made her debut at 6:38PM. We had a pretty smooth labor, and I only pushed for 20 minutes!

Q&A :: Here are some things you’ve asked me (mostly on instagram) -

1) What is one thing about labor that you didn’t expect?
The SHAKES! The epidural gave me the worst convulsions and shakes that lasted for hours. It was really stressful for both me and Harrison, and I was so worried that I would be shaking too badly to hold her when she came. Thankfully the adrenaline rush of pushing took over. But I had no idea that was a side effect so we were pretty alarmed when I couldn’t stop.

2) Are you doing a schedule?
You may have seen that little Lila is an amazing sleeper. She was sleeping from about 9-5 or 6 at 6 weeks old and I honestly have no secrets. I think we are just super lucky and blessed, and God knows how much this mama needs her sleep ;) I am following Moms on Call, so I just transitioned her to the 8-16 week schedule where she goes down around 7:30 and makes it to 6 or 7 most mornings. So I do have to give some credit to MOC, and I really enjoy having a schedule to loosely follow. I do try to keep in mind that we have to continue to have a life, which really allows us to be the best parents. So, I try not to stress if we don’t follow the schedule exactly day-to-day. Some days we are out and about and she doesn’t nap in her crib, other days I make sure she gets at least 2 good naps in there! I’m learning that it’s all about balance (and I’m certainly no expert).

3) Does she sleep in your room?
This was something I was really surprised about - she was in her crib on day 2! I could NOT sleep with her in our room and she didn’t sleep well at all. Lila is a super noisy / grunty sleeper so every little noise would wake me up. I was surprised at my ability to let her go to the crib so early, but I knew it was the only way any of us would sleep! She has done great in the crib.

4) Swaddle?
Y’all - I panic ordered like 8 swaddles at 3AM during a feeding one night in those early days. Our favorite has been this Halo swaddle (I like that it’s fleece for the winter time) because it zips and velcros, and Lila is an escape artist. It doesn’t matter how tight you swaddle her, she would get a hand out every time. She has only broken out of this one like twice, and she sleeps great in it! I also love that it unzips from the bottom, so if you need to do a diaper change or if I forget to put the Owlet sock on, I can do it without totally unswaddling her.

I just transitioned her to the Magic Merlin sleepsuit and she LOVES it. Sleeps like a champ all night & at naptimes! I highly, highly recommend.

5) Favorite place to get her bows?
I got her a ton of bows on Amazon, but I also love the Baby Bling bows. Both kinds are so stretchy, super lightweight and so so cute. They are one size fits most, and they fit her soon after she was born and obviously still do now. I love all their patterns!

6) What are your must-haves? What items were worth the price, and what did you end up not liking?
First of all, obviously every baby is different. Here are some things that Lila absolutely loves:

(leopard set I’m wearing is sold out)

The Owlet - I CANNOT live without this. I see so many mixed reviews on this and lots of you have asked if I think it’s worth it. I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want to use it - it gives me SO much peace of mind going to sleep each night and I literally don’t think I would sleep without it. When she is laying so still and hasn’t moved in awhile, instead of going in and sticking my fingers under her nose to check if she’s breathing, I just look at the Owlet. It is a game changer.

4Moms - she slept in this the first few nights when we couldn’t get her to go to sleep. She still sits and naps in it and loves the mobile! It is a permanent fixture in our living room.

Beautycounter baby products - Lila has great skin y’all. She is tanner than I am and she’s a baby. My pediatrician asked what I am using on her skin because she has yet to get a diaper rash, splotchy-ness and even her baby acne and little spots go away pretty immediately. I use the baby bath during bath time, then mix this baby balm & the baby oil in my hands and rub it all over her after the bath every night. PSA : the baby balm is gritty at first, you have to RUB it to get the grit to go away. I have yet to use the diaper rash cream because we haven’t needed it, but it’s on deck if we do!

Baby Bjorn bouncer - This is a higher ticket item and I honestly thought she’d enjoy it more. Every baby is different, of course, but she hasn’t loved this so far. Maybe as she gets bigger and older!

Solly baby wrap - Lila LOVES this. She snuggles up and sleeps so well when I put her in it, and it hurts my back way less than the Baby Bjorn carrier. It is tricky to learn how to put it on at first, but after a couple of tutorial videos I finally have it figured out ;)

Baby Bjorn carrier - I do love this because it’s easier than the Solly wrap, and Harrison wears her a lot in this too. It does hurt my back more than the Solly wrap, but great for walks and such!

Keekaroo changing pad - Absolutely LOVE this! Never have to worry about poop or spit up getting on fabric and washing it, just wipe it off and continue on! It does stain a little bit, so I have been using a magic eraser every now and then to really get it clean, and then wiping it with a baby wipe afterwards.

Noodle & Boo laundry products - O.M.G these smell AMAZING. I am now using them on all our laundry because I cannot get enough! I also have the room spray which I spray after her diaper changes, and the diffuser that I keep in her room. I wish you could smell it through the computer, but you’ll just have to trust me.

Boppy pillow- She was too small for this at first, but now she loves it and it’s easy to prop her on it while I need to do something!

Nanit monitor - I absolutely love this! I can see her from anywhere, even when babysitters are there (hehe). One time my dad tried to swaddle her and majorly failed while I was at a hair appointment, so all I had to do was send him a text that her arm was completely out! ;)

***TIP! I hung this mobile over her changing table and it is her FAVORITE place to be. Every time I lay her down to change her, she looks up and breaks out a huge smile. I did it just thinking she might like something to look at, but it has turned into one of our go-to tools to calm her down or distract her! I ordered it off etsy but you could use any mobile.

Beach trip must-have :

This tent. We put towels in it and she napped here on the beach and by the pool.
