cuffing your jeans

Good morning and happy Tuesday! I'm taking a quick break from puppy fever -- have you SEEN our new baby?! Okay, I'll show you...photo 1 photo 2...now that you have your puppy fix, let's talk about cuffing your jeans. It's an easy way to amp up the versatility of your jeans and give yourself a new look. Cuffing also allows you to make your jeans the correct length if they're too long, and make them a little more casual if you're going for that look.-150{Paige skyline skinny, Tory Burch wedge - on sale!}

Typically I like to do one cuff - about 2-3 inches wide so that your jeans hit at your ankle bone. But, cuffing is totally up to your taste. You can roll them twice, or just do one small cuff. Just make sure your jeans are hitting right around your ankle bone and not much higher.

-180So don't be afraid to cuff your skinny jeans and divert from your normal denim look. They can go from day to night and are great with a ballet flat, wedge or sandal.

Until tomorrow, stay stylish!

the babydoll top

Happy Monday, y'all! It seems like I've been all about tops lately... and there's nothing wrong with that! Whether you have your go-to neutral bottoms or like to play around with colors or patterns, you can always use your tops in new and versatile ways.

Today we're talking about the babydoll top. Now that I've mentioned the word "babydoll," many of you want to stop right there and close this window. Please don't! You can rock the babydoll top no matter what age or size you are. You just have to do it right. This top is perfect for hiding insecurities {ahem...mid-section} while still looking stylish and put-together. Two rules when it comes to babydoll styles ::

1) Make SURE you wear a skinny pant on bottom

...unless you are tucking or half-tucking your top, in which case you should still wear a more fitted pant like a straight leg. No wide-leg pants with this style; the flowy top paired with flowy bottoms creates an overall sloppy and bulky look. It's all about balance, people.

2) Make sure the top hits at your pocket line or below. Preferably below.

-9I stumbled across this top at Old Navy {yes, Old Navy!} and snatched it up. It was the last one in store and I can understand why! There are times when you score an item at Old Navy that doesn't look like an Old Navy find... this is one of those times.

-22Paired with my newest Kendra Scott addition;  a rose quartz long tassel necklace to balance the flowiness of the babydoll top

Until next time! Wishing you a stylish week ahead.

pretty in pleats :: the accordion top

Today I'm introducing you to one of my new best friends, the accordion top. The pleats add a fun detail and I love the cut of this top. It flatters virtually every body type and shows off your shoulders at the right spot. The best part about accordion tops? The pleats stay perfectly and you don't have to worry your pretty little head about wrinkles. If that isn't music to your ears {especially you moms!} I don't know what is. View More: http://carrietabbphotography.pass.us/courtney-pinkI paired this hot pink number with a simple black pant + my favorite leopard clutch {coming up on the blog soon}View More: http://carrietabbphotography.pass.us/courtney-pinkView More: http://carrietabbphotography.pass.us/courtney-pinkHot pink + neon yellow pair perfectly together. shorts + booties

TGIAF, y'all. This week can't go by faster! Today we're talking about how to rock the perfect in-between fall & summer look :: shorts + booties. I told you we'd be discussing some tips on how to transition your wardrobe from summer into fall without overheating yourself and this look fits the bill. Simply pair your favorite shorts with a blouse and the perfect mid-heeled bootie for an effortless combo of summer and fall. DSC_3578A nicer dress short, like THESE navy pom-pom trim from LOFT will give you a more polished lookDSC_3622Top your look off with some great accessories, like these fringe earrings & necklace by Kendra Scott

DSC_3643A fashion tip to live by :: top it off with a tote. You can never go wrong with this Downing tote in English Saddle from JCrew. The perfect color, size and versatility for any occasion.DSC_3669A statement necklace can make an outfit. This hot pink 'Harlow' by Kendra Scott picked up the floral pinks perfectly and added a warm pop to this top.

Below are some of my favorite booties for the upcoming season. Make sure you choose a camel/tan color so that you can wear them with both browns and blacks, and everything in between.

BP 'Trolley' Leather Ankle Bootie

Dolce Vita 'Cassidy' Bootie

Naya 'Felix' Leather Bootie

So rock the shorts & booties look and give yourself the ability to pull those shorts into fall, and bring those booties out a little earlier than you expected!

colorblocking

Happy Monday, y'all! Let's dive right into today's blog post on :: COLORBLOCKING. The colorblocking trend has been around for awhile now and you've probably seen it in dresses, shirts and more. So let's put a twist on the typical trend with DIY colorblocking. {click on the links throughout the post to shop my look piece by piece}cb6I paired a radiant orchid tee with some bright peachy coral pants. Choose colors that are close in tones to one another, but different enough to create a big contrast. For example, choosing warm colors for both top + bottom like I did here.cb1These Vince Camuto Side Zip Ankle Pants in Papaya are perfect for work + play. A flattering tapered leg and breathable fabric make them a year-round staple.

You can score my JCrew radiant orchid tee {on SALE!} here. It's soft and comfy and perfect for dressing up and down. You can also add in a pop of opposite tone {in this case, a cooler tone with a chartreuse scarf} to finish off the outfit if you're feeling bold.

When you already have so much color, stick to basic accessories. White statement earrings, a long tassel necklace and my favorite stacking bangles are perfect compliments.

And of course, few of my outfits are complete without a subtle pop of leopard. My skinny leopard belt is a wardrobe staple and I added it here for a little break in between the two colors.

So play around with a little DIY colorblocking in your closet! You'll be surprised at what you can put together with what you already own. We'd love to see your looks! Tag us on Instagram @lifestyledatlanta and hashtag #diycolorblock

white on white

Labor Day is around the corner... but fear not! You can still wear your whites a little bit longer. And pay no attention to the Labor Day rule, Atlanta ladies. We live in Georgia! We get the heat WAY past August so I consider that rule null and void. Today I'm sporting an all-white look, perfect for these August nights ahead. Don't be afraid to rock all white; it's clean, chic and timeless.DSC_3458

I paired a crisp and classic button-down with one of my favorite pairs of white denim and some simple Kendra Scott jewels. The all-white look is easy and effortless - no guesswork involved!

DSC_3495

Get my JCrew Factory button-down tunic HERE. This tunic has been my go-to because it's super lightweight. Not to mention the longer length is great for tucking or over leggings!

DSC_3475My favorite Paige bootcuts are HERE. These are SO comfy, stretchy and universally-flattering on every figure.

How 'bout some layering? I LOVE this tassel necklace by Kendra Scott paired with a more delicate gemstone.

Y'all may have noticed my obsession with Kendra Scott jewels. I am loving all of her pieces and will be telling you why in an upcoming post. Stay tuned! Until then, give the white-on-white look a try and take the guesswork out of your morning routine!

the linen blazer

Happy Monday! It's almost August which means we'll be starting that summer to fall transition in just a few short months. Over the next few weeks, I'll be sharing style tips and suggestions to help you do it seamlessly and in ways you may not have thought. Today I'm talking about the linen blazer. Blazers can often be hot and heavy, especially your basic black. Transition your top half from season to season with a lightweight linen blazer; your bottom half can follow suit {see what I did there?!} when the cool is here to stay! Try a linen blazer in a lighter color; like a chambray, chartreuse or poppy red.

DSC_8375I love my sunflower yellow blazer {last season from LOFT} but I also love something about the collarless jacket. It adds a little bit of femininity and less structure to it, so it's perfect for taking from work to play. This one fits the bill, and this color is great on every skin tone ::

LOFT Cropped Linen Open Jacket

The linen blazer is perfect for throwing on during those in-between hot and cool months with a pair of shorts and a tank or even over a dress / skirt for work. How about a datenight?DSC_8404Roll your sleeves up exposing the inner lining for a more fun, casual and easy look. I love a good patterned blazer, like this one from Anthropologie ::

Anthropologie Southmark Blazer

How about a simple chambray? It's more casual for those of you who don't see a need for a blazer in your wardrobe. It can act as more of a lightweight jacket while giving you the polished look of a blazer.DSC_7839Try it in a light wash or dark wash depending on your preference, like these ::

GAP Ponte Twill Blazer

Eileen Fisher Linen Chambray Blazer

Anthropologie Quilted Chambray Blazer

So throw on your linen or lightweight blazer to help you make the transition from summer into fall; whether it's on a cool night out or in the office. And, stay tuned for more seasonal transition advice and tips in the days and weeks to come!

work it out

WORK IT OUTTGIF! I'm here to beg for forgiveness re :: my blogging hiatus... Things have been crazy busy for the Clymers because we just BOUGHT A HOUSE! {yay for no more renting, a house of our own and a fur baby (dog, of course) joining our family very soon!} I'll keep you updated with photos and progress as we go through the closing process, renovations and move-in, but now you know the reason behind my lameness. It's a pretty good excuse, right?

Today we're talking workout wear. I don't know about you, but when I am exercising regularly I feel SO much better; more energy, sleep better, and an all-around better attitude. But the cherry ontop of staying in shape is looking stylish while doing it. Don't lie... you know that new pair of shoes or Lulu top is a major motivator to get your butt in the gym!

I'm sharing some of my favorite pieces to keep you stylishly in shape ::

New Balance Mesh 711 in Neon Yellow

I recently purchased these babies and LOVE the bright citron color. They are also super lightweight, comfortable and airy.

I absolutely love Nordstrom's Zella brand. Everything is comfortable and flattering, and it's a fraction of the price of Lulu Lemon. Not to mention the cute colors and patterns!

Zella Girl 'Freedom' Space Dye Leggings {on super sale now!}

The charcoal color of this leggings is perfect for those of you who want a swap from basic black. It is still dark enough that it hides imperfections {bulges, cellulite, dimples and all that other fun stuff that we women love to deal with}

Zella Girl 'Tumble' Tank

I love the built-in bra in this top because, let's be honest, who wants to worry about a separate sports bra? SO last year.

Zella 'Essential' Jacket

This is called the 'Essential' Jacket because that's exactly what it is. The ruching down the front provides the ultimate figure-flattery and it creates a perfect hourglass figure. This is especially essential as fall approaches!

ALO is another great workout brand with unique styles. I love anything with an open or drapey back and these fit the bill ::

ALO Cinder L/S Top

ALO Vapor Top

So work it out in style; you'll be more motivated and feeling refreshed in no time!

leopardHappy Hump Day! Today we're talking a summertime must-have :: the leopard sandal. You've heard me say it before that you can absolutely use leopard as a neutral. It's true! And leopard doesn't have to be "fancy." It can be casual, understated and the perfect pop of chic. I love these simple ankle wrap-arounds by Seychelles. The best part?
