Built-ins + Bookshelf Inspiration

Happy Friday! Today I'm bringing you some tips and inspiration for accessorizing those built-ins or bookshelves in your home. We all know I'm a fan of wallpaper, but if you're not ready to make the leap into a full wallpapered room, a built-in is a great place to start.

I chose navy as a theme in my family room when we first moved in, and when I found this Coursing Ikat Wallpaper, I was in love.

Whether you wallpaper or not, every bookshelf needs accessories. Here are a few tips when it comes to accessorizing ::

1) You can never go wrong with WHITE. If all else fails, accessorize your built-ins with all white. White vases of varying sizes, statues, candle holders or coral.

2) Every built-in should have greenery. Hit up your local Homegoods for faux greenery, topiaries or succulents {like this set of succulents here, for only $19.99! Put them on varying shelves if you have smaller built-ins, or do a set of 3-4 on one shelf for bigger spaces}.

3) Less is more. Don't crowd your shelves! I've been there done that and it just feels cluttered. Stick to minimal items for a clean and organized look

4) You can add practical items! I love having our record player in the bottom shelf. We just drilled a hole to connect the cord, and now this piece that didn't really have a place in our home, does.

I am all about bold patterns and colors, but many of you aren't. Grasscloth is a beautiful, simple + neutral option for those of you who aren't big into bold. I also love this same Ikat Wallpaper in Gray.
